John Shulman. Our Principal Consultant, John Shulman, has extensive experience in the factoring and discounting industry commencing in 1981. He has led a number of teams to success as well as merging and forming new discounting and factoring businesses.  He also has deep knowledge of how credit insurance complements invoice finance having been Commercial Director in the UK and Ireland for the world's 3rd largest credit insurer, Coface.

Having been Managing Director of both small and large successful businesses, John has wide expertise in all aspects of the invoice finance industry. Since his working life began at a small factoring house he maintains a special interest in that segment of the market and has been a member of the Executive committee of the Asset Based Finance Association, chairing its Invoice Finance Group.

John has a track record of delivering results through building excellent business relationships, and brings this core value to John Laurence Consultancy Ltd.  Following John’s lead we believe that we will deliver success for you and us through building a superior and lasting relationship.

John had built new invoice finance businesses creating value for shareholders within a short space of time. When merging businesses, he doubled profitability within a couple of years. He has delivered success throughout his career and is perfectly positioned to bring his practical, as well as strategic experience to support your business.

Phil McCrostie Phil McCrostie has a unique range of experience, both as a senior manager within the Invoice Finance industry and as a online channel specialist within the commercial and retail banking sectors.

With 9 years experience in online marketing, website strategy & development as well as many years experience in IT and business operations at Director level Phil brings a rare commercial & technical perspective as well as marketing expertise.

Phil’s primary specialities are in online marketing and strategy development, providing Online Marketing performance reviews, website usability & productivity, SEM/SEO & online strategy development.

Phil also brings his experience in the factoring and invoice discounting industry to provide assistance in IT Systems Selection and integration as well as customer collections, recoveries and back office functions

Phil’s work at Abbey was recognised when the Abbey Business Website won awards from national Papers.

Since 2006 Phil has worked as an independent consultant, for The Open University, Natixis Bank and The Coventry Building Society, developing their online strategies, processes and teams, managing software developments and  transforming the way they do business through the online medium.
